A Practitioner’s Perspective

How Not to Fear AI

by Monica “MLR” Rothgery, RScP

The headlines of late would have us believe that we should be very afraid of artificial intelligence. It will take over our jobs and our minds. It will make authors, artists, singers and song-writers obsolete. It will be weaponized to centralize power and resources. The doomsday list goes on and on.

Yes, that could happen but here’s what I know: I know that there is only One Source. Everything exists and is of that Source. It is Divine Intelligence, and it is good. So if everything exists in and through Divine Intelligence, that includes artificial intelligence. AI sits inside Divine Intelligence. It is within the Mind of God. It cannot be anything or anywhere else.

So, I choose to imagine AI as a new source of fuel for creation, like a turbo-charger for Divine Intelligence (not that it’s needed). But what if AI is a fast track to solve climate change? What if it sorts out DNA so we can prevent cancer and Alzheimer’s disease? What if it showed us that diplomacy and mutually beneficial agreements are the path to peace, solves for hunger, drought, the rain forests…. What if AI is a message of hope?

So AI, are you a good witch or a bad witch?  Like-minded souls . . . let’s focus on the good and know that the highest and greatest is unfolding on our behalf. Because it is.
