On the Minister's Mind
by Rev. Laine Morgan
This week we are exploring the teachings of Rev. Edwene Gaines, and she says - “You must assign significance and meaning to your life, giving yourself strength and endurance and bringing joy to your existence on a daily basis.”
What significance and meaning have you assigned to your daily life? No matter how you spend your time and energy, YOU are giving whatever you do significance and meaning. You get to call your life what it is, so the question becomes how do you see yourself and the things you do?
There is a difference between someone who sees themselves as a parent just keeping their children fed and alive and at school on time, compared to someone who sees themselves as the shaper of the next generation of human beings. There is a difference between one who views their role as an accountant and a person who manages the books, versus seeing themselves as one who manages the flow of resources for a business having global impact. There is a difference between seeing yourself as a trainer or teacher, and knowing that you are helping others step out of fear into competence or confidence.
Whatever you touch adds something to the equation. Everything you do is your ministry and has an impact on the people and situations around you, but you must identify how you are contributing to the good and claim that for yourself with pride and joy. It’s up to you. And, once you have identified how you are contributing, strengthen your resolve and endurance to increase your impact.
External validation and confirmation of your good work is awesome, but you can do that independent of anyone else’s agreement. You know better than anyone else exactly what you are contributing to the betterment of life.
The higher value we place on ourselves, the more we will be valued by others. The more we appreciate ourselves, the more we are appreciated externally. This is a self-esteem or self-love lesson.
As we explore the spiritual laws of abundance, this one is foundational. Resources flow to anything that blesses others, everything that affirms life, so we must see ourselves as the blessings that we are! This opens up the flow!
