On the Minister's Mind

Rev. Laine Morgan

A while ago, I became interested in Dr. David Hawkins’ research on consciousness, and specifically the impact an individual has when they live in the frequency of unconditional love.  His research shows that a single person who vibrates with the energy of pure love can counterbalance the negativity of 750,000 who do not.

When we look around and see darkness and feel compassion for those suffering, and choose to take a stand for love, we make a powerful choice.  Every day we have that choice to make – to love or to fear – and this choice tells us where we believe the real power of life originates.

If the events of the day upset you, ask yourself where your power lies, or in other words, where have you placed your personal power. On the collective, human level, governments can cause major disruptions that we watch play out in the news like we did this past week. Economies react, military forces react, pundits react, people around us react, but none of those reactions are in our realm of control.

We can give all those reactions the power to disrupt our personal lives, or we can hold our power center within and consciously choose how we will respond with mindfulness to retain our vibration of love.  When we do that, we are having a vibrational positive impact on our world.

All of this is a matter of faith. If you have placed your faith in the hands of the government, or the news, or the military, or even the people around you, you believe that your well-being is dependent on them doing something to ensure your highest and best unfolds for you.  You have surrendered your personal power to them.

The goal of a spirit-based, or faith-based life is to allow those entities to give you information, but ultimately to turn to spiritual truth as the source and foundation of your life. The only thing that remains unchanging is God and the laws that operate on the spiritual level. Have faith and surrender your personal power to the Divine.

So, as you stand amidst the chaos of the day, here are some things to remember in faith –

  1. You are here right now on purpose, and that purpose is to be your best self, centered in love.

  2. Oneness is the law, which means that we are a single human race playing out our collective beliefs about our roles in each other’s lives. Continue to play your holy role no matter how anyone else shows up. You are counterbalancing those who have forgotten their holy role.

  3. Nothing can happen in your life that isn’t FOR your personal betterment. Trust your soul to guide you to the most loving path through whatever is happening.

  4. When you feel afraid or alone, come to community as often as possible.  We can help you remember that Spirit is present in all things.

  5. No human entity is more powerful than Spirit, and you are directly connected to that Power, no matter what.

The bottom line is - place your faith in the power for good and let the human-level systems play out the way they do. Everyone gets to choose where they place their faith and when you choose Spirit, it is unshakeable.  Obviously, everything else can REALLY shake!  Love is the calming force.

The only way we can change the world is to change ourselves.  Dr. David Hawkins put it this way – “Every improvement we make in our private world improves the world for everyone!”
