On the Minister's Mind

“The joy of the Christmas Spirit is eternally mine. The comfort of the Christ Idea finds an abiding place in my consciousness" - Ernest Holmes, December 1929
This newsletter will be published on Christmas Day and this Holmes quote is a beautiful affirmation for us at this moment! Can you affirm that the joy and comfort offered in his writing are yours?
If we understand the “Christmas Spirit” to be Divine Love expressed as kindness, generosity and compassion, it should be easy to see that love is eternally ours. There is nothing that can happen on the human level that can block the availability of love. There may be circumstances that make us question whether Spirit is present, but part of our practice is to affirm truth despite circumstances. Love is always ours to express and experience, and we do that through kindness, generosity and compassion.
The second part of his affirmation is about the Christ Idea bringing comfort when it abides in our awareness or consciousness. What is the Christ Idea? It is the spiritual truth that you are a God-being, a spiritual entity forever connected to the source of Life and all good things. It is the knowing that you are never separate from your higher power and each other.
These are the “tidings of comfort and joy” of which the carols of old sang, and Ernest Holmes wrote of long ago. So, as you go about your holy day celebrations, look for the symbols of the season and invite them to remind you of your own inner light and the peace that lies in wait within you.
Enjoy this week and breathe in that awareness regularly throughout the day and allow it to bring that eternal joy to an abiding place in your consciousness.
Merry Christmas and see you Sunday!
